1

Ponda: Aimed at providing local milk-producing farmers with superior quality cattle feed, Goa Dairy, on Thursday, introduced protein-rich fodder on Thursday. In a function held at an auditorium in Curti, Ponda, on Wednesday, cooperation minister Mahadev Naik officially launched the protein-rich cattle feed named ‘Supreme’.

Goa Dairy presently provides the feed which contains ingredients sourced from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradeshat a subsidized rate of 16.80 per kg to farmers.

‘Supreme’, which contains 23 to 25% protein as compared to 20% protein found in earlier feeds, is meant for the high-yielding cattle that produce above 10 litres of milk per day.

“A cow can produce one litre of milk with a 300g dose of ‘Supreme’, as compared to the 500g of regular feed given for the same amount of milk, thereby cutting costs,” Goa Dairy MD, N C Sawant, said.
