Ghee procurement from the dominant manufacturer of dairy products in Karnataka, KMF will be obsolete for the TTD.

Of late, the long established relationship between the Karnataka Milk Federation, leading supplier of the dairy products of Karnataka and the world famous Tirupatiladdu had come to an end. This famous laddu is globally known due to the quality of ghee used by the Tirumala TirupatiDevasthanas in its preparation. In spite of this, this trust had awarded its ghee contract to Govind Milk and Milk Products Pvt Ltd, which is located at Maharashtra. It has been disclosed by the Managing Director of KMF, S N Jayaram as such that the price factor played a major role in deciding that who will be bagging the tender.

This very tender as issued by the TTD stays afloat twice a year, where each one is valid only for six months. The leading manufacturer of the dairy products in Karnataka, the KMF had quoted a price of Rs.324 per tin of ghee, whereas the Govind Milk and Milk Products had quoted a lesser price at Rs.276 per tin of ghee. It was a kind of a rude shock on part of the KMF who had been supplying ghee for the preparation of world famous laddus from its various milk unions like the Kolar-Chikkaballapur region. They are expecting that the TTD should consider and support the cooperative firms.

The TTD had been depending upon the KMF for the preparation of its world famous laddus for a period of ten years. Undeterred by the fact that the KMF had lost its tender way back in 2011, the TTD came back to KMF, as procuring ghee from other places  largely affected their quality of laddus.Nearly, 3,000 tonne of ghee was supplied by the leading manufacturer of the dairy products of Karnataka, the KMF. Every day, approximately 1.5 lakh laddus are prepared by 200 cooks who are appointed by the TTD. In fact, these Tirupatiladdus had obtained the GI tagin 2009 owing to its unique taste and quality.

Summary-It may be concluded that, the long established relationship between the Karnataka Milk Federationand the world famous Tirupatiladdu had come to an end. The TTD had awarded its ghee contract to Govind Milk and Milk Products Pvt Ltd, which is located at Maharashtra. The leading manufacturer of Karnataka dairy products, the KMF had quoted a price of Rs.324 per tin of ghee, whereas the Govind Milk and Milk Products had quoted a lesser price at Rs.276 per tin of ghee.Undeterred by the fact that the KMF had lost its tender way back in 2011, the TTD came back to KMF, as procuring ghee from other places  largely affected the quality of laddus.
