Of late, the Indian exporters of dairy products must have a glimpse in the International market on the grounds of the firming up of the Skimmed milk powder in the Global Dairy Trade auctions this year.

This year, the domestic price of milk products was worthwhile by virtue of lower exports of the SMP consignments by the Indian exporters. But now, due to the firming up of the prices in the international market the 30,000 tonnes of SMP inventory in the country will eventually get faded away. It has been found the prices of the SMP had a breakthrough by 8.5 percent in the Global Dairy Trade.

At the Global Dairy Trade, there are auctions held for different kinds of dairy products like the SMP, whole milk powder, butter, butter milk powder, anhydrous milk fat, etc. It has been aforementioned by the managing director of the Tamil Nadu based Hatsun Agro, RG Chandramogan that the passion for the dairy industry will be improved henceforth owing to the rise in the International prices. Analytically it has been found that India exports approximately 80,000 tonnes of SMP every year but in the last year owing to the fall in the price of SMP in the international market, India nearly exported a nix.

But this could lead to a drastic phenomenon in the domestic market where due to an increase in the exports of the Indian dairy products would lead to a shortage in the supply of the dairy products. Previously, the SMP which was in excess was utilized by the dairies across the countries for re-converting it to liquid milk. Under this circumstantial situation, there is a draught like situation in Maharashtra and also a lean season has been set in states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka ad Maharashtra. Also the milk procurement has been declining down by 20 percent chiefly in the cow belt.

It has been told by the managing director of the GCMMF, RS Sodhi that it will take some time for the exports of the Indian dairy to see the International market turn out as encouraging. At this present scenario, they are exporting their products to few of their International customers priced around $3,400 per tonne. At the advent of soaring international prices, Amul had been exporting around 20,000 tonnes of SMP in the period of 2013-14.But surprisingly, the approaching winters will not witness any hike in price in the domestic market, which may lead to a tough situation in the next summer.

In word, it may be concluded that, the Indian exporters of dairy products must have a glimpse in the International market on the grounds of the firming up of the Skimmed milk powder in the Global Dairy Trade auctions this year. Analytically it has been found that India exports approximately 80,000 tonnes of SMP every year but in the last year owing to the fall in the price of SMP in the international market, India nearly exported a nix.
