Project Sattva helps the women to manufacture dairy products in Haryana
Recently, it has been brought to light that a second year student of Sri Ram College of Commerce, Manik Garg along with his leading edge from economics, Divyat Rungta are heading a project aimed at helping the rural women for setting up and running their own dairy firm. The name of this project is Project Sattva, which is the eleventh project to be launched by the SRCC chapter of international organization ENACTUS.This project which will be helpful for increasing the yield of the dairy products of Haryana,will be administered at Amritpur Kalan and Taprana with a population of nearly 200 women.
The strategic plan has already been worked out as such and the permission from the husbands has already been secured.The women works different as they are divided into two groups, namely the processor self-help groups(SHG) and supplier SHG. It has been found that the supplier SHG, aimed at supplying the dairy products at Haryana, is also buying the cattle and supplying milk as such. The Arpana Services has been actively supporting the processor SHG which are being engaged at 11 from the two villages combined. It has been aforementioned by Garg, that the activity of these groups had already reached stagnation.
Formerly, these groups are manufacturing the dairy products in Haryana such as paneer, ghee, butter and curd.Industrialization in their production will lead to consistent quality in their products solely. This project will help the women in various aspects like technical skills, literacy and capacity building. The women will be specialized upon how to price their products, cost of transportation, how to market and to pitch to restaurants and hotels. The expenditure of per animal has been found to be as Rs.4,000-5,000 per family. The basic rearing checklist will be to clean daily in order to prevent infections, vaccinate regularly, be careful with feeding and taking care during dry periods.
