Chief Minister Raman Singh inaugurated the Pilot Project of Ultra-High Temperature Processing (UHT) milk distribution project for Government school goers in the district headquarters here on Sunday.
The Chief Minister announced on the occasion to start the ‘flavoured milk distribution project’ in other districts as well soon.
The project covers students of Anganwadi, Primary and Middle schools.
Singh said that Chhattisgarh is leading in milk production.
Earlier, the production of milk in the State was 5,000 litres per day which has now increased to 65,000-70,000 litres per day.
He said that the State which was dependent on other States for milk procurement has turned self-sufficient in providing the same to various States.
State Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal informed that the flavoured milk would be distributed to Anganwadi, Primary School, Middle School and CRPF soldiers once a week.
Gariaband was declared a district of Chhattisgarh on January 1, 2012.
Singh said the present development phase of the district is appreciable.
Besides, the Project, he gifted the district with developmental works worth Rs9.60 crore.
Applauding the farmers, he said they are well aware and showing keen interest towards growing oilseeds, pulses and Maize crop along with paddy.
