Much to the delight of consumers, Aavin, the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, has introduced gift packs which comprises sweet and milk products.
Sales of gift packs has picked up momentum ahead of the Deepavali season. The pack contains 250 grams of gulab jamun, two boxes of milk chocolate and nutties each weighing 45 grams, 200 grams of ghee, 200 gram of badam milk powder and a couple of 200 ml Maavin (mango flavoured milk drink). These easy-to-carry packs are available in Aavin parlours across the State, Aavin sources in Tirunelveli said on Saturday.
Apart from the gift packs, preparation of ‘mysurpa,’ milk beda and milk cake is also in full swing. These sweets have a good consumer market.
Ghee is also available in packs of 200 ml to 15 litres and the price ranges from Rs.90 to Rs.6,150. Sources said already six tonnes of ghee has been sold this month whereas during the corresponding period last year just three tonnes were sold.
Ten tonnes of ghee was sent to Chennai this month. Last year, sale of sweets weighing around 1,500 kilos fetched Rs.4 lakh during the Deepavali season. It is expected to go up this year, sources said.
