A mini dairy plant and milk production unit was Friday inaugurated at Mokokchung by commissioner and secretary department of Veterinary & A.H. L.H. Thangi Mannen.
The plant is jointly sponsored by Nagaland State Dairy Co-operative Federation and Nagaland Livestock Development Board.
Dairy products like lassi, yoghurt, packaged milk, paneer etc would be produced in the unit.
In her inaugural address, the commissioner and secretary since marketing aspect was high in Mokokchung and the plant strategically and centrally located would be a boost to the people of Mokokchung.

She expressed optimism that through this plant, neighbouring districts will be covered by the products in due time. Thangi also urged the dairy entrepreneurs to be innovative and avail various schemes and not just depend on government subsidies alone which are becoming non-existent. She further disclosed that the plant will be expanded in the days to come.
The strengthening of the plant also coincided with the celebration of Mokokchung’s 125 years thus making the occasion more auspicious, she added.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by DC Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS and Addl. Dir. Veterinary & A.H, Dr. Viral.
Welcome address was delivered by Chief Veterinary Officer Mokokchung, Dr. Mapumeren.
The chief guest and other officials also distributed Clean Milk Production kits to some dairy farmers.
