The Indian dairy industry needs to gear up to achieve the production target of 190 to 200 million tones (MT) by 2020 from the existing 140 MT P.A, said National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Joint Director R.K. Malik.

Speaking at a Dairy Biz India 2015, a conference on sustainable technologies, opportunities and entrepreneurship in the industry organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department, APTDC and NABARD, he said it was imperative that the industry should ensure proper production, processing and marketing infrastructure capable of meeting requirements. A comprehensive strategy for producing quality and safe dairy products should be formulated, he said.
