The unsparing effort shown by the Amul to eradicate the malnutrition of children

A short while ago, it has been found that the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producer’s Union has been setting up a plant in India on a non-commercial basis. It was meant for generating the ready-to-use therapeutic food (RTUF) for the millions of severely malnourished children in India. The so called taste of India, Amul, has been verged upon by the Gujarat Government and the Government of India for procuring the lately developed RTUF to be manufactured in the plant approved by the United Nations Children’s Fund. Previously, the Ireland based International Agency; Valid Nutrition had joined together with Amul.

RTUF is a soft, palatable and easy to eat for children therapeutic food which will be dispensed to the children belonging to the malnourished section of the society between six months to six years of age group. This RTUF will be based upon the region specific requirement, constituting of isolated proteins, micro and macro nutrients. Analytically, the proclaimed Taste of India, Amul, had invested Rs.10 in view of the RTUF and have impended the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for this issue. In no time, their Mogar plant will be accredited by the UNICEF as such.

Amul join

It has been made known by the Managing Director of the Amul Dairy, Dr K Rathanam that they had been working amidst Ireland’s NGO on RTUF for the past two years.He further added the fact that they are setting up a plant processing equipments at the Mogar Food Complex, as result of the completion of the product testing. After reviewing the RTUF, the Gujarat Government had verged upon the professed taste of India, Amul. Forthwith, the Central and the State Government had depicted their motive of procuring the RTUF from the Amul.
