We all are well aware of the Amul Ads that feature near Dadar East’s Tilak Bridge in Mumbai. Every time an event bursts into the scene, Amul makes a copy that leaves us surprised with its superlative creativity. When Team India captain MS Dhoni took a dig at an Australian journalist, it came up with a copy saying, “Captain Not-so-Cool? Amul Retirement benefit.” To add more to the fire, when India lost to West Indies in the semi-final of ICC World T20 2016 due to no-balls, it said, “No Bhools. Amul Extra Helpings!” Hence, how can Amul not fire its creativity when the Calypso Kings emerged triumphant in the final against England?

It was a remarkable year for the West Indians. First, they emerged victorious in U-19 World Cup and then came up champions in ICC Women’s and Men’s World T20 2016 on the same day. Everyone, including the Indian fans, shook a leg to the ‘Champion’ dance on that historic day. Even Usain Bolt, popularly known as the Lightning Bolt, joined the party and posted a video on Social Media dancing to DJ Bravo’s ‘Champion’ song.

West Indies were the only team to win the ICC Cricket World twice (1975, 1979). And, after Sunday’s huge triumph, West Indies became the first team to win the ICC World T20 twice. In fact, on both occasion, Darren Sammy led the rampaging West Indian troops.

With Vivo Indian Premiere League (IPL) commencing this week, the Amul copywriter will be busy making copies that will make us sit up and take notice.
